I’ve tried installing Excite Snare Drum vst3 on my Cakewalk DAW but on scanning this vsti read with error warning and it wont came up on the vsti list.
The installation file also look weird than usual vst3 since the folder are mark with .vst3 which other vsti dont.
I hope this can be fix for cakewalk user.
thanks for reporting this. I have booted into Windows and installed the freeware “Cakewalk by BandLab”.
In Preferences → VST Settings, I can create a scan log, which is then saved in %APPDATA%\Cakewalk\Logs\VstScan.log
It looks like this:
VSTSCAN: ---- 19: c:\program files\common files\vst3\excite_snare_drum.vst3 ----
VSTSCAN: [ShortPath] c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\vst3\excite_snare_drum.vst3
VSTSCAN: [RegKey] Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Cakewalk VST X64\Inventory\c:/program files/common files/vst3/excite_snare_drum.vst3
VSTSCAN: Previously scanned - NOT a VST plugin
VSTSCAN: ---- 20: c:\program files\common files\vst3\excite_snare_drum_PRO.vst3 ----
VSTSCAN: [ShortPath] c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\vst3\excite_snare_drum_PRO.vst3
VSTSCAN: [RegKey] Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Cakewalk VST X64\Inventory\c:/program files/common files/vst3/excite_snare_drum_PRO.vst3
VSTSCAN: Previously scanned - NOT a VST plugin
So it seems Cakewalk isn’t accepting our plugin as such.
However it does recognize something, as in Utilities → Cakewalk Plug-In Manager, I see this:
